XWave

Privacy Policy

XWave is a private-by-design communications service. This policy explains what information we collect across messaging, calls, and groups, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.

Last updated: July 23, 2026

At XWave, privacy isn't an afterthought — it's the reason we exist. This policy describes, in plain language, how we handle your information when you use XWave to message, call, and share with the people who matter to you. We've tried to keep it readable, because a policy you can't understand isn't much of a commitment.

1.Information we collect

XWave is a communications service that lets you exchange messages, make voice and video calls, create groups, and share media. To provide it, we collect the categories of information described below. We aim to collect as little as possible while keeping the service reliable and secure.

Information you provide

  • Account information. To register, you provide a mobile phone number. We use it to create and secure your account and to help others reach you on XWave.
  • Profile information. You may add a display name, profile photo, and an “about” or status note. These are optional and under your control.
  • Your messages and shared content. When you send messages, photos, videos, documents, audio, your location, contacts, or polls, that content is transmitted so we can deliver it to the people and groups you choose. XWave is designed to hold as little of this content as is technically necessary to operate the service.
  • Calls. To place and receive voice and video calls, we process information needed to connect the call — such as call setup, participants, start and end times, duration, and connection quality.
  • Contacts. If you allow it, XWave uses your device address book to help you find and connect with people who use the service. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
  • Support requests. When you contact us, we receive the information you share, such as your message and how to reach you.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage and activity. Limited information about how you use XWave, such as features used and interactions with the app, to keep it working and improve it.
  • Device and connection information. Details such as device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, and network/connection information.
  • Status and presence. Information such as when you were last active or online, and typing or delivery indicators, so the service behaves as you expect.
  • Log information. Diagnostic, crash, and performance data that helps us find and fix problems.
  • Cookies. On our website, we use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy.

Information from others

Other people may provide information about you when they use XWave — for example, when they message you or add you to a group. If someone who has your number in their contacts uses XWave, we may receive that number to help connect you.

2.How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain XWave and its features.
  • Deliver your messages, connect your voice and video calls, and enable groups and media sharing.
  • Register and secure your account, and verify your identity to the extent needed.
  • Keep the service safe — preventing spam, abuse, fraud, and other harmful activity.
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • Understand and improve performance, reliability, and the user experience.
  • Communicate with you about the service, including important notices.
  • Comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms and policies.

We do not use the content of your conversations to target advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4.How we share information

We share information only in limited circumstances:

  • With people you communicate with. Your messages, calls, and shared content are delivered to the recipients and groups you choose. Information such as your profile name and photo may be visible to your contacts.
  • With service providers. Trusted providers who help us operate the service (such as infrastructure, telecommunications routing, and support tooling) process information on our behalf under confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • For legal reasons. Where required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or XWave.
  • Business transfers. If XWave is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

We never share your information with third parties for their own advertising.

5.Managing your information and your rights

You have meaningful control over your information:

  • Update your profile, name, photo, and status directly in the app.
  • Manage device permissions, such as contacts, microphone, camera, and location.
  • Block and report accounts, and leave groups at any time.
  • Delete your account, which removes associated information subject to our retention practices and legal obligations.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or object to certain processing of your information. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@thexwave.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

6.Data retention

We keep information only for as long as necessary to provide the service and for legitimate operational, safety, legal, and regulatory purposes. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and applicable legal requirements — for example, some records related to telecommunications may be subject to specific retention rules. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or anonymize it.

7.How we protect information

Security is designed into XWave from the ground up. We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your data. You can learn more on our Security page.

8.International data transfers

XWave operates globally, and information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where we transfer information internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law, using appropriate safeguards where required.

9.Children's privacy

XWave is not directed to children under the minimum age required by the laws of your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10.Third-party services and links

XWave may link to, or let you share content with, third-party services (for example, when you open a link or share to another app). Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

11.Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of XWave after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12.Contact us
